Data Specialist
What's Next AI is an AI agency based in the Netherlands. We're a fast-growing team building AI solutions for businesses. Not talking about AI, but doing it: LLM integrations, AI agents, automation platforms. All in Python.
We're part of a larger group, but operate as our own team. Minimal meetings, maximum output, and you largely decide how you approach your work.
The Role
We're looking for a Senior Data Specialist who can turn messy, real-world data into the foundation that makes AI actually work.
You start hands-on. You design and build data pipelines, clean and structure client data, and make sure the AI solutions we build have something solid to run on. At the same time, you're close to the client. You understand their data landscape, spot what's missing, and translate that into a plan.
As we grow, your scope expands. You become the go-to on data architecture across projects, and eventually you help steer how junior team members approach data problems.
Phase 1 (start): 80% hands-on data work, 20% client and team involvement. 2-3 projects in parallel. Phase 2 (growth): More architecture, more oversight. You set the standard for how we handle data across the board.
What you'll do
Design and build data pipelines that feed LLMs, RAG systems, and AI agents
Audit and structure client data: identify gaps, clean sources, define schemas
Collaborate with AI engineers to make sure data quality never becomes the bottleneck
Advise clients on their data infrastructure: what they have, what they need, and why it matters
As the team grows: define data standards, review work, and help junior team members level up
Who you are
You know that most AI projects fail on data, not models. You've seen it. You're the person who asks "where does this data actually come from?" before anyone else thinks to. You're comfortable in the weeds of a messy database and equally comfortable explaining data risk to a non-technical director. In a small team, you don't wait for instructions. You see what needs to happen and you get it done.
What we're specifically looking for:
4-8 years of experience in data engineering, data science, analytics, or a related field
Strong Python skills and experience with SQL, data modeling, and pipeline tooling (dbt, Airflow, or similar)
Experience working with unstructured data and preparing it for LLM or RAG use cases
Familiarity with cloud data platforms on GCP or AWS
You've worked directly with clients or business stakeholders before
Able to translate data findings into clear, non-technical language
Excellent Dutch and strong English
Nice to have:
Experience at a consultancy or agency
Hands-on experience with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector)
Knowledge of data governance, compliance, or GDPR in an AI context
What we offer
€4,500 - €7,000 gross per month, plus 8% holiday allowance
32-40 hour work week, your choice
Hybrid working from Luxembourg, minimum 2 days in the office
A team that doesn't just sell AI but builds and uses it daily
A clear growth path: from specialist to lead data architect across a growing project portfolio
